THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS
Competition for a Multifunctional Park in Peligros (Granada)
A Garden that Unfolds
In the early 15th century, Hieronymus Bosch created one of the most enigmatic works in the history of painting. Over time, his imagined creatures have fascinated generations—a work in which the representation of the world unfolds as a triptych, blending visions of paradise and hell with the earthly realm: a world where these different imagined realities coexist.
The location of the park lies at the intersection of a residential zone and an industrial area, where the project acts as a connecting hinge. Furthermore, the proposal seeks to extend the intervention area so that this connective function reaches the agricultural lands of Peligros in future development phases.
Another series of unfoldings also occurs. The garden’s design is structured through pedestrian and sports pathways, which leave landscaped areas alongside them, as well as multipurpose open platforms dimensioned to host various urban uses: sports tournaments, fairs, open-air exhibitions, street markets, urban gardens, and more.
The park becomes a triptych—like Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights—connecting these three urban worlds: housing, industry, and agriculture.
