An Experiment with Light
A Home for a Psychologist in Granada
This residential transformation project faced a major challenge: introducing natural light into a dark apartment block. Inspired by El Bañuelo in Granada—11th-century Arab baths lit by skylights in vaulted ceilings—the architecture team from Granada carried out a full renovation, demolishing the interior partitions and creating horizontal cylindrical perforations that fill the new spaces with light.
This intervention not only resolved overhead and vertical lighting but also enabled its modulation through blackout curtains that act as movable partitions. The proposal combines experience and creative vision, allowing the dwelling to interact with the emotional states of its occupants and adapt in function and atmosphere through the control of light and color.
The design stands as an innovative reference in architecture and interior design in Granada, recognized for its quality, functionality, and sensitivity in every detail.
