This architecture studio, located in the heart of Granada, is not only a renovation project but also a cultural and neighborhood intervention in constant evolution. Its aim is to generate an urban garden through collective practices.
So far, a workshop space has been enabled within the pre-existing buildings, based on a model of minimal-resource construction and maximum economy of means. The result is a bright space that reveals the historical layers of the building, telling the story of the transition from the Islamic city of the Albaicín to the 19th-century French-style expansion along Granada’s Gran Vía.
This process highlights the building’s many past lives—from laundry house and tobacco dryer to janitor’s residence. A minimal intervention in installations and flooring allows this historical setting to adapt to its new role as a contemporary architecture studio, standing out as a reference in sensitive and innovative architectural interventions in Granada.
