Revitalizing Domestic Heritage
This project explores a way of understanding heritage not only from a historical or material standpoint, but also through the artisanal, emotional, and everyday. The goal was to transform the modest backyard spaces of a village house into a painting studio and a family wine cellar.
To achieve this, an old pigsty-chicken coop was adapted to create a light-filled patio enclosed with recycled windows that had been removed from the house and forgotten over time. Likewise, tiles from a demolished shed were reused in the wine cellar design.
This use of familiar, repurposed elements turns memories into architecture, functioning like an old album of traces and recollections. The project highlights sustainability and emotional memory through a sensitive and respectful intervention within its rural context.
