The taste of tradition, in a space that looks toward the future without forgetting its roots.
Since its beginnings, Sol & Crema has built a story intertwined with the everyday life of Motril: with the unhurried rhythm of its mornings, the warm aroma that accompanies every encounter, and the artisanal dedication that defines the character of this Mediterranean coastal city. The roastery is born from that memory and now takes shape through architecture, transforming the act of roasting coffee into a visible, honest, and welcoming experience.
Here, every bean carries a journey: it begins in distant lands, matures under an intense sun, and reaches its fullest expression when it releases its aroma inside the roastery. That same journey inspires the design of its façade, which captures the essence of Sol & Crema and expresses it through forms, colors, and textures that evoke the universal image of a cup of coffee crowned with cream.
The base of the roastery—solid and dark—represents the body of freshly brewed coffee: a grounded, robust volume full of depth, conveying the strength of the company’s tradition. Above it, a lighter and softer surface rises like a delicate layer that completes the composition, recalling the crema that naturally floats atop a well-crafted coffee. The transition between both tones creates a warm and recognizable architectural gesture, capable of speaking without words about the craft practiced here.
The design is not just a visual metaphor: it is also an homage to the traditional architecture of the Granada coast. Its simple lines, clean shadows, and palette inspired by earth, salt, and sunlight allow the building to dialogue with its surroundings and recover the serenity of Mediterranean constructions that have shaped the life of Motril for decades. Tradition is reflected in the sobriety of the materials, the clarity of the surfaces, and the gentle way the building opens outward, inviting visitors to observe, smell, and understand the heart of the roasting process.
The exterior parking area, integrated within this same design logic, organizes the space with a serene geometry that respects both light and the natural movement of visitors. Its lines frame the entrance as if they were the flat surface of a table where a freshly served cup rests. Every element is designed to make arrival intuitive, comfortable, and harmonious, turning the path toward the roastery into an extension of the coffee ritual itself.
This project not only houses a process— it represents it. It not only contains the history of Sol & Crema— it projects it: a story of care, quality, time, tradition, and flavor. A place where architecture settles gently into the landscape with the same delicacy with which crema settles over coffee: light, soft, bright, and essential.
Sol & Crema pays tribute here to all that coffee means to our community: an everyday act that unites, awakens, and accompanies. This roastery is a declaration of identity and a standing invitation to discover the essence of a product that, like good architecture, is built on tradition, balance, patience, and respect for authenticity.
